An idea, an imagination, endless untouched sandy white beaches and a developer that wanted to erect a sustainable beach estate on the coast of Mozambique.
In 2004 Richard Philips and Gus Chirindza joined forces to put together what is now the Daghatane Beach Estate, between the bays of Paindane and Guinjata, in the province of Inhambane, Mozambique. The construction of the first lodge African Tides began, using Bali inspired design, lodges on stilts with thatch roofs overlooking the endless views Daghatane prime position afford.
In 2007, on the back of a paper serviette, and with a cold beer in hand, our family decided to dive head first into this endeavour. We purchased a ‘site’ within the estate and, with the expert services of Lodge Solutions Mozambique, we started building our dream beach lodge.
More than ten years later we firmly believe we own one of the most pristine, luxury lodges on this part of the coastline. It took time, patience and a lot of hard work, yet with guests returning year on year, and interest in this wonderful country growing, we are delighted with what we have achieved.
